Artist: S. E. Rogie
From the late 60's up until his death (tragically just prior to the release of this album), Sooliman Ernest Rogie was a cultural ambassador for his homeland of Sierra Leone. He traveled to America and the UK, promoting his local culture and turning people on to the warm, sunny sounds of Palm Wine music, indigenous to the nation. DEAD MEN DON'T SMOKE MARAJUANA features the late singer's smooth baritone voice against light, tropical percussion and the relaxed strumming of acoustic guitar. This is melodic, "take life easy" music that calls to mind the islands of the Caribbean.
