A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AFRICA
Product Description
Artist: Various
The "A Day in the Life of Africa" project commenced in February 2002, with 100 photojournalists unleashed upon the streets, plains and dirt roads of Africa to capture the breadth and diversity of the continent's cultural landscape. What the photojournalists found was compiled in a pictorial travelogue of the same name. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AFRICA, the musical album, is a companion piece of sorts to the book, that features everything from Afro-rock and jazz to traditional folk tunes of the Malian Griot tradition in one entertaining compilation. Artists include the infamous barefoot diva Cesaria Evora, Ethiopian pop star Gigi, the Soweto String Quartet, Habib Koite and more. A portion of the profits from the sale of this CD goes toward the "Day in the Life of Africa AIDS Education Fund."
