Artist: Geoffrey Oryema
Growing up, Geoffery Oryema was taught Ugandan folk music traditions and how to perform local instruments like the nanga (harp) from his father. Unfortunately, Oryema found his life in danger due to his family's political connections. He was forced to leave the country hidden in the trunk of a car, eventually finding himself exiled in Paris. EXILE is an album of songs that capture the feelings of Oryema since leaving Uganda. Produced by Brian Eno, the album features the sounds of light percussion, the lukeme (a small thumb piano), the nanga and flutes as Oryema passionately sings of injustice and the importance of inner strength
